Marti Shea is one of the top climbers in the United States. She has a natural affinity for climbing. Coming from the New England region, she was amazed by the high altitude and long distances of Monarch Pass during her first bike ride in the western part of Colorado. Prior to that, her longest climbing training session lasted no more than 10 minutes. When she heard about a steep climb ahead, she thought it would take at most 20 minutes. However, when she reached the summit at an elevation of 11,300 feet after 23 miles, she realized two things: first, seeing a curve does not mean the peak is just around the corner; second, she enjoys climbing but needs to learn more techniques to improve her climbing skills. She has won the Washington Hillclimb race three times but is still seeking better climbing techniques to enhance her abilities.

Here are three climbing techniques that anyone can learn and master:

Train hard and ride forward: Climbing is the most challenging compared to other forms of cycling. But that doesn't mean you should avoid climbing during weight training, especially in winter. Repeat climbs on local hills. When you shed your heavy clothes in the coming spring or summer, you will find that climbing has become easier compared to the previous summer because you have improved your abilities through gravity training.

Gear ratio matters: In my opinion, many people use inappropriate gear ratios when climbing, just as many believe that using small chainrings and big cogs can make them go faster. When I first climbed Washington Hill, at 7.6 kilometers from the starting point, the average gradient reached 11.6%. I used the gear ratio I usually used for flat road riding, which resulted in me standing and pedaling at 55 revolutions per minute throughout the entire section. Now I have switched to an 11-32 cassette (which refers to the smallest and largest number of teeth on the cogs, respectively), allowing me to ride in a higher cadence while seated, reducing the leg pain caused by lactate buildup.

Conserve energy: If you ride at the same speed as most riders when climbing, drafting won't make a significant difference. However, drafting behind other riders can accumulate considerable energy savings. Additionally, as the altitude increases, wind resistance becomes greater, and even if you follow slowly, it can make a significant impact. Apart from the aerodynamic benefits, following someone's rhythm can also mentally inspire you to persist for a longer time. Furthermore, if you can steadily climb behind others, the energy you accumulate will be unleashed when you reach the summit and sprint towards the finish line.

For riders who want to improve their climbing abilities but have limited fitness or lack training, an ebike conversion kit is a great option. An ebike conversion kit is a device that converts a regular bicycle into an electric bicycle. It typically consists of a motor, battery, controller, and some accessories. This conversion kit makes climbing easier. When climbing with an ebike conversion kit, you can use electric assistance to easily overcome steep uphill sections. The electric assistance provides additional power to help you conquer the slope and reduce the burden on your legs. This means you can ride in a more relaxed position, better control your speed, and conserve energy.

Lvbu KX series, an innovative solution that enables you to upgrade your bicycle into a smart electric bike with ease. In just three minutes, you can install the Lvbu wheel onto your bike without any complicated modifications to its original wiring, making the replacement process incredibly convenient.

Designed to fit various wheel sizes ranging from 16 inches to 29 inches, the Lvbu KX series offers a wide selection of rim specifications, catering to the installation requirements of most cycling enthusiasts.

Embracing the era of intelligent technology, these wheels utilize the power of Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. With this feature, you can simultaneously connect multiple Lvbu devices and enjoy seamless integration within the ecosystem.

The breakthrough innovation lies in the five intelligent assistance modes available. Developed through seven years of research and development, the intelligent micro power system equipped in these wheels employs precise sensors to continuously capture the bicycle's posture and automatically provide assistance accordingly. This technology allows for a smooth and effortless riding experience comparable to gliding on clouds. Additionally, periodic system upgrades based on user feedback ensure maximum riding pleasure.

With the companion app, you have access to real-time sports data and the ability to adjust the assistance mode to your preference. By connecting to the controller via the app, you can seamlessly view essential information such as speed, battery level, temperature, cadence, and mileage.

The Lvbu smart app goes beyond basic control functions. It enables firmware updates over the air, allowing improvements and bug fixes to be delivered wirelessly. You can also configure the gyroscope angle and benefit from advanced features like fault detection, ensuring the best riding experience possible.

Security is a top priority with the Lvbu KX series. In the unfortunate event of theft, you can report the lost vehicle, activate the lock remotely via the app, and instantly immobilize the thief. The horn alarm will continuously sound, broadcasting the thief's location and urging them to return the stolen vehicle. This feature greatly facilitates the recovery process for the rightful owner.
